The defining part of this KVH Starlink Performance Gen 3 kit is the Wedge Mount, whose 8-degree tilt helps rain run off the dish so the connection holds up better in wet weather. The kit also includes a router. Designed for vehicles, boats and RVs, it provides Starlink satellite internet (it is not a satellite radio), and activation plus data plans come through KVH only. Setting it up directly with Starlink is not possible without first paying an unlock fee.

Owners upgrading from the previous generation will find that the Wedge Mount keeps the same bolt pattern, which simplifies installation, and all hardware and instructions are supplied. Built from weather-resistant materials, the mount withstands winds as strong as 280 km/h, or 174 mph. The Performance dish currently reaches download speeds of 400+ Mbps, handles temperatures from -40 to 60 degrees C, and carries IP68 (unplugged) and IP69K (plugged) ratings, so it can be pressure washed and can sit under 1 meter of water for as long as 30 minutes. The rack-mountable Advanced Power Supply runs on AC or DC with backup battery support on DC input.
